May 5, 2026

For the first time in three years, the One New Zealand Warriors were back in Wellington! From the moment fans began making their way along the Fran Wilde Walkway, with lights and drumming leading the way, it felt like more than just game day. It felt like an occasion, a special night of rugby league as the One NZ Warriors faced the Dolphins in their Anzac Round clash in the capital.

Before kick-off, the sold-out stadium came together for a moving ANZAC ceremony, paying tribute to those who have served and those who continue to serve. It was a powerful moment of reflection and connection that set the tone for the evening.

What followed was a thrilling game of rugby league, packed with intensity and edge-of-your-seat moments. With the Dolphins up before half-time, you could feel the tension among the more than 34,000 fans in the stands, but each time the Warriors scored, the stadium roared to life with passion.

And the energy kept building during half-time with a surprise performance from the incredible P.Digsss - rave lights and pyrotechnics synced to his set further hyped up the crowd. Fans packed out the concourse, and the excitement only grew. It’s nights like this that remind us how special live sport can be, shared moments with thousands of others, all riding the same highs and lows.

When the final whistle blew, it was the One NZ Warriors who came out on top, edging the Dolphins 20-18 in a thrilling finish.

The win was the icing on the cake to an incredible event, showcasing the connection between the team, stadium, city, and thousands of fans who turned up to be part of it.

It was along-awaited return for the Warriors to Welly, but one well worth it. We’ll see you all next time!
